My Brother’s Keeper receives grants from FHLBank Boston and Abington Bank

Abington, Massachusetts — June 5, 2024

Making a difference in our community is one way that Abington Bank unlocks potential in the neighborhoods we serve. Abington Bank was recently recognized by FHLBank Boston for its commitment to affordable housing, and awarded a $2,000 grant to My Brother’s Keeper, the Easton and Dartmouth-based nonprofit organization selected by Abington Bank. In response, Abington Bank matched the grant with an additional $2,000 through The Giving Tree, our charitable giving program, bringing total donations to $4,000.

Abington Bank’s focus on what matters most is what enabled it to be one of just 10 banks chosen to request a grant through the FHLBank Boston’s Grants for New England Partnerships (GNP) program. The program partners with banks to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that offer critical services to communities.

According to Abington Bank President and CEO Andrew J. Raczka, the bank selected My Brother’s Keeper and matched the grant because of the nonprofit organization’s longstanding commitment to providing a multitude of services to families in need.

“For more than 35 years, My Brother’s Keeper has been focused on providing families in Southeastern Massachusetts with a variety of services, including food and furniture assistance,” said Raczka. “We thank the FHLBank Boston for recognizing our commitment to affordable housing lending and for giving us the opportunity to provide My Brother’s Keeper with necessary funding to help them continue improving the well-being and self-sufficiency of those they serve.”

“We at My Brother’s Keeper are extremely grateful for Abington Bank’s generosity. This thoughtful $4,000 donation will make a significant difference in the lives of the local families we serve,” said My Brother’s Keeper Chief Development Officer Paul Key. “The FHLBank Boston grant plus matching gift from Abington Bank will cover our cost for delivering a week’s worth of healthy groceries to more than 330 families. Thank you, Abington Bank!”
