Abington Bank Commits $125k to South Shore Health

Abington, Massachusetts — September 17, 2024

Abington Bank and its charitable giving program, The Giving Tree, recently committed $125,000 to support South Shore Health in its mission of healing, caring, and comfort.

Abington Bank joined South Shore Health’s President’s Circle in 2019 and continues its support with an annual gift of $25,000 earmarked toward maintaining the health and well-being of our community. And, the bank recently made an additional $100,000 grant specifically to support South Shore’s emergency services, which includes the Emergency Department, the Level II Trauma Center, EMS, the Pediatric Emergency Department, the Obstetric Emergency Department, and Mobile Integrated Health.

“South Shore Health’s mission aims to deliver high-quality, advanced care and resources to our patients close to home,” said William Tollefsen, MD, Chair of Emergency Medicine, South Shore Health. “This generous gift from Abington Bank will help to bolster the life-saving resources we need to respond swiftly in critical, emergent situations.”

According to Abington Bank President and CEO Andrew J. Raczka, the bank’s support is designed to ensure that South Shore Health has the resources it needs in this continually evolving healthcare landscape to offer the highest quality care to those most immediately in need, especially critical high quality emergency services to the surrounding community.

“Access to quality medical care is something we all count on, and South Shore Health continues to do an amazing job treating our friends, family and neighbors who live and work in our communities,” said Raczka. “We’re pleased to do our part in supporting South Shore Health and its efforts to transform their Emergency Department into one that’s as up to date as possible and can unlock its full potential.”

Abington Bank’s charitable giving program, The Giving Tree, reflects the roots the bank has in its communities, its commitment to making a real difference in the neighborhoods it serves, and the belief that everyone’s quality of life is enhanced when we were together to solve our communities’ biggest problems – together.

“Donations from community businesses like Abington Bank are instrumental in advancing our vision to deliver exceptional care,” said Lauren Spencer, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, South Shore Health. “We are deeply grateful to Abington Bank and to all our donors who help ensure that we have a strong, sustainable, and clinically excellent health system to serve our community.”
